I went to a show tonight with Through the Eyes of the Dead, Haste the Day, All That Remains, and As I Lay Dying!! Haste the Day had some great breakdowns, and All That Remains impressed me with their energy. I will have to listen to more of them now... As I Lay Dying was great as usual and they played very clean. They played plenty of their old crap, which I liked... =)

Dang, this inflation sucks. T-shirts are now like $18-$20, instead of $10-$15 from like a year ago... =/

Is change good?

Our team's oncall experience is going to change soon. We were usually part of a bigger rotation of developers, monitoring a separate and larger part of the backend system, but the database team is going to get a new pager. Since there are less of us (4-5 people), I will be oncall more often... =( However, what we are responsible for is *probably* a smaller subset, so we *think* there will be fewer and easier oncall tasks. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm thinking being oncall more is worse... =/

O well, and my first cycle starts on my birthday. Woohoo! Work is giving me a present!!

Home for 2 weeks

For Christmas, I'll be home for 2 weeks!! I'll be taking 5 vacation days for the 14 day break because that is really the only way to get cheap plane tickets. They're still ~$410, but a lot better than like $500+. I even got non-stop flights, which is convenient when flying across the country. The only crappy thing is that I'm flying home on Christmas eve, but I'll be on the east coast till way past New Years.

I think after these flights, I will have enough miles for a free flight!! =) Now, where should I go?
