Workout Stuff...

I guess this is my workout update. I think I have been slowing down a lot on my strength improvements... =( I benched 185 x 6 but I got help on the last couple. I don't think I got too much help on them, because I still had pretty good speed pushing it back up. It's also getting harder to gain weight.

Today I went to the "girly" pilates class again. There was 1 other guy there, so I wasn't the only guy. That class is such a great abs workout. Too bad there aren't enough guys that go. After the class, I did the rowing machine again. I did a 500m sprint in 1:34 @ 34 spm. That is a 3 second improvement from last time. I increased the drag a little bit so that might be where I got the extra speed. I also felt a lot more "dead" afterwards, so that's cool. =)

After the gym, I went to Borders for a while. I found some physics book on relativity and stuff and read it for a couple hours. It was really interesting. I liked it. Physics is pretty cool stuff. I wish I knew more of it. Maybe I should read more. Dang, I am such a freakin' dork.

I have 4 more workouts before I go back home. I gotta make them count.

Also, Jamba Juice smells really nice inside.

The Last of the Interns

Today, the other intern left, so that leaves me alone in this house. The last thing I need now is to be more lonely than I already am... =( O well, I guess I can move into the big room with the big bed. I also get my usual "walk around in my towel after my shower" time. I could actually be naked but I won't do that... =) O well, I have already survived 11 weeks and just have 2 more.

Gold's Gym vs. JetBlue... JetBlue!

So it turns out a round trip ticket from Dulles Airport in VA to Oakland Airport in CA is cheaper than a 3 month membership to Gold's Gym. I just thought it was interesting that a round trip plane ticket across the country is cheaper than a short term gym membership.

Room Full of Girls

Well, this morning, I went to the gym and I attended the Pilates class....... Ok, you can stop making fun of me now... So what if it's a "girl" class? Today, there were 2 other "men" in the room full of girls. However, one of them left in the middle and the other one was clearly gay. That means, I was the only "guy" for some of the time. Whatever, I don't really care what people think. I really like the abs workout I get from the class. Most of the hour is some kind of crunch or sit-up, so it is like a 45 minute abs workout, which is cool. Too bad I looked like a retard because I am not very flexible at all.

After the class, I decided to row even though I have to bike uphill for miles to get back home. I guess I am retarded and masochistic. Those 2 traits are a bad combination. I just did 1 sprint, so I guess I wasn't too stupid. I did 500m in 1:37 @ 35spm. I have no idea if that's good or bad, but I like it because this was the first time I rowed since school. I was trying to go all out, but after I finished, I still felt like I had some energy left in me. The funny thing was that my forearms were more sore than anything else. I think next time I will increase the resistance a little bit, because at times, I felt like I couldn't push as hard because the wheel was already spinning too fast. Maybe that will improve my time.

Random: At Borders I saw the new Misery Signals cd. I did not expect to see that album there...

Go Cornell!!!

I just happened to wear a Cornell shirt today, and 2 different, random people talked to me about Cornell. The first guy talked about how Cornell was a good Ivy league school, and asked me how I got in. He was this asian guy with a kid in HS. He even asked me what I got on the SATs! Another guy stopped me and talked about how he was a PE teacher at Cornell and stuff. It was weird how 2 random people just talked to me about Cornell. Go Cornell! =)

I created an internet radio station of most of my Emo mp3s. It is mostly for me to listen to at work, but anyone else welcome to listen! The info is here. It all Emo and Pop Punk and related genres, so I'm sure everyone can enjoy it. I might make a hardcore playlist, but I'm sure no one else but me would listen to it. =) Yeah, so you if you want some random music, check out my Emo radio station!

On a scarier note: Friday night, one of my roommates was biking without a helmet and light, and hit a car. We had no idea where he was, but he was in the hospital until Sunday. He broke a couple of ribs. Luckily nothing was punctured and his head is ok. Also, today, the other roommate fell off his bike while going really fast downhill. He also went to the emergency room for a pinched nerve in his arm and lots of scrapes. It's pretty scary how accidents can be so common. Good thing no one was seriously hurt. It's also scary because this can only mean I am next! =/ I should start being more careful on my bike...

32 Miles!

Yesterday I went on a bike ride after the gym. Lots of people at work are into biking so they all have nice, expensive bikes. We biked 32 miles! At one part, we were all going really fast on this flat, coast route. The guy in front of me slowed down a little, so I slowed down a little more. We were all biking pretty close together so the guy behind me didn't expect anything so he crashed into me! He flew off he bike, but he didn't get hurt. An annoying thing was that I had to carry a backpack with all my stuff in it, so that was a lot of extra weight on me.

Today, Euell and Matt visited me from LA. It was great since it's been a while since I've seen any friends. We hung out at the beach for a couple of hours. The weather was amazing as usual! =) The water was FREEZING! It took me forever to get completely in the water. Once I was in, it wasn't too bad. Weird how that works... It was cool to hang out at the beach. Too bad my roommates don't really like the beach, and I don't really feel like going by myself. Is that weird? O well, it was cool seeing friends again. I have to find a way to visit people more often... Well, I took some pictures on the bike ride and at the beach.

Weekend In NoCA!

I went to Northern California with my family this weekend. On the way there, we stopped at Hearst Castle which is this huge castle near the coast. It was a pretty cool place because it was so big and extravagant. I thought the indoor pool and the personal movie theater were cool, especially since those seem more like present day luxuries. Well, since the castle was near the coast, we had to use the coastal route for the rest of the trip. The scenery was amazing but it really killed the average speed of the drive. The road was VERY windy and it was only 2 lanes. There were a couple of times where I was really annoyed at the person in front of me because they didn't go faster! I was in a Grand Cherokee so any other smaller car would probably have a much easier time maneuvering those curves so they should have been going faster!

Eventually, I got to Stanford. It was a really nice day, like all other days I've experienced in CA. This west coast has amazing weather! We walked around the campus for a bit, which is not that easy because it is pretty large. It's a very nice place and I think it's gonna be cool living there. Maybe I just don't know the area as well, but I still think Cornell's campus looks nicer... =)

We went to San Francisco for the night and went to some chinese restaurant for dinner. Everything was pretty much normal until we were leaving. As we were leaving, a huge rat darted across the floor! You could tell where in the restaurant the rat was by the screams it induced. That is probably not the best thing to witness in the restaurant you just finished eating at. I still found it kinda funny... =) The most interesting part of that was that the waitresses didn't seem surprised by the rat at all. Maybe they're used to it? =\ O well, I'm not dead or sick or anything, so it's all good. On the way back from Northern California, I took the better, faster highway which was great because a lot of the time I got to go about 85-90 mph. However, I encountered more annoying drivers than usual. I really hated it when the guy in front of me did not go faster or get out of the faster lane. That happened more than it should have, which really annoyed me. I am not even an aggressive driver, and it still annoyed me how "not fast" they were going. I guess going slower is fine, but they should really get out of the left lane!

Overall, the stuff I visited was pretty cool, but I think there was way too much driving for 2 days. Was all that time sitting in the car really worth seeing those things? O well, I put up some pictures I took. I think some of them are pretty random so beware!
