Pizza Pang, The Explorer

Today was my day of discovery. At lunch, I found a deli where I can get a sandwich for exactly $5. That is the cheapest thing I could find downtown besides McDonalds. I eat out every day for lunch, and it is getting expensive. I really should pack a lunch or something. For the meantime, that $5 sandwich is the best buy. The sandwich is not that big, but I have other little snacks at the office that can supplement the $5 meal. I need to save money anywhere I can...

At the gym, I found the ergs!!! I missed them every other time. They are in this far corner behind all the other cardio machines. I doubt I will ever use it because I already do plenty of other exercise. It is comforting to know that it is possible to self inflict pain and suffering as I did at Cornell. There are only 2 of them, so it could get crowded.

Also, I found out that every Monday, Wednesday and Friday random people get together and play tennis. I went to the courts today after work and I watched some of the matches. Some of the players are ok. I think I would have fun playing. I'm planning on going this Friday. Too bad its $8 to play. I think it's worth it because I don't have anyone else to play with. I have no other options. Maybe I can skip dinner once a week so I can play tennis... =)

At home, I found the new Atreyu and new Misery Signals. I didn't get them yet, because things were busy. I'm excited about the Misery Signals because the first one was really good, and I saw them live last summer and they were great! I like the new Taking Back Sunday, but I don't know if it's better than the previous one. Maybe it's not as catchy or something. I'm not sure yet...

Taking Back Sunday

I got lots of new music today. Here is a list:
Taking Back Sunday - Where You Want To Be
New Found Glory - Catalyst
Feeling Left Out - Once Upon A Time
Stickboy - Things They Never Taught Me In School

For the people who like heavier stuff (basically andycal):
Alexisonfire - Watch Out
Taken - Between Two Unseens
Unearth - The Oncoming Storm
A Life Once Lost - Open Your Mouth For The Speechless
Zao - The Funeral of God
Candiria - What Doesn't Kill You
Stockholm Syndrome - History Has Taught Us Nothing
Eighteen Visions - Obsession

I haven't really listened to any of it yet. I haven't listened to much music lately because I don't have good speakers on this laptop. =( I also haven't really heard of some of these bands. I hope some of this stuff is good. I heard there was a new Atreyu album, but I couldn't find it easily.

Oh, and I still can't walk normal yet... Everything aches.

Almonds are yummy!

Whew! Saturday was a long day. I woke up at 4:30 AM and eventually got to the bus by 5:15. Good thing someone picked us up, because biking 3 miles when it's so early and so dark is probably not a good idea. The bus left at 5:30 and we got to the place at 9:30. Dang! Couldn't they have found a closer river! It was really uncomfortable so I couldn't get any sleep... The day got a lot better after we got off the bus. The river was fun, even though it was really low and easy. We went on 2 rafting runs and 2 kayaking runs. The river was really easy so there was a lot of random floating around. The cool part was we would chase after other rafts and attack them by dumping and splashing water on them. The kayaking was more fun, because we had more control and we could flip over other kayaks... =) I got really sore from all the rowing and splashing. I was out all day in the sun, but I don't think I got burned, even though I didn't put on much sunscreen. I guess the long bus rides made the day seem longer...

Sunday, I got back on my usual schedule of exercise. I biked to the stadium, but I didn't run stadiums. I ran many 100m sprints. It was a lot harder than I expected. I did about 6 or 7 of them, and my legs were so dead afterwards. I then went to the tennis courts and practiced a ton of serves. I used new tennis balls so it was really cool. I think I did pretty well with the serves. What really sucked was that I had to pay 2 bucks to play. I really don't have a choice because those are the only courts that are close enough to bike to. Also, someone told me that there are little tournaments that happen every week where anyone can come and play doubles. That sounds like fun, especially I don't have anyone to play with... Man, running those sprints really killed my legs!

I also found a store that sells almonds! yay! I can eat almonds again!

Good workout...

I had a good workout today. Today was my chest day, and I benched 185 for 2.5 (I got help on the 3rd one) on my 3rd set. That is definitely my best ever! I also discovered a cool thing. Last week I got whey protein powder to gain more muscle, but it tastes so bad. It is nasty! I have tried to mix it with many things, but I finally found the best combination: Guava juice! It's great because at work they have that drink for free so I can use it everyday. Tomorrow Green Hills is taking its employees on a rafting trip so that should be cool. Too bad it is so early. The bus leaves at 5:15 AM. Dah! We get back after 9 PM so I am gonna be really tired tomorrow. I guess I have to do my stadiums on Sunday... O well, I should sleep soon...

First Post!

My first post in Santa Barbara! The weather here is great! The hottest is 75 and the coldest is 55. There is just so much sun! It "rained" once here, and I could barely consider it rain. It was more like a mist. I bike to and from work everyday. It's over 3 miles each way. Getting to work is mostly downhill, so coming back it's really hard. I work out almost everyday. I want to get bigger and stronger this summer! I have been eating a lot more than usual. I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks everyday. I have gained 2-3 pounds in 2 weeks. I hope most of that is muscle and not fat. hehehe... I have also been running stadiums every weekend. That's 840 steps of fun! I also go to the tennis courts and practice lots of first serves.

The house I am staying at is really nice. It's really close to the beach. I live with 2 other interns and they are both from Cornell. They are seniors now, so I don't know them. We also got cable internet and digital cable. The best part is that we don't pay for any of it!

Outside of work and the gym, I'm kinda bored. It's hard to find stuff to do, especially since I am 3 miles from downtown and all I have is a bike. I'll try to update this often, probably because I get bored... Leave comments!!
